Jurassic Coast Award photography competition winners are announced

The winners of the 2013 Jurassic Coast Award photography competition were announced at a ceremony at the Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre, which also hosted the first exhibition of the winning images. The free competition, sponsored by the Fine Family Foundation, endorsed by the Jurassic Coast Trust and supported by Dorset Wildlife Trust, was launched to find images of the Jurassic Coast which provided a new take on this dramatic coastline.

Over 1,200 entries were received in three categories: ‘My special place’, ‘Point in time’ and ‘Close up coast’. The winners for each category are:

Point in Time: ‘Crepuscular and Cretaceous’ Hedbury Quarry by Paul Haynes from Bournemouth

Close up Coast: ‘Chance Encounter at Kimmeridge’ by Geoff Francis from Swanage

My Special Place:‘Sea fishing at Seaton Bay’ by James Osmond from Bristol

The overall winner was Paul Haynes for his photo of Hedbury Quarry. An exhibition of the winning images will be held at the Fine Foundation Gallery, Durlston Castle from the 14 - 20 May, then Lulworth Heritage Coast Centre will host the exhibition from 3-17 June.
