The Pandora Inn at Restronguet Creek has been named as a finalist in Tourism Pub of the Year category of the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014

As a finalist, the Pandora now goes forward to the glittering Awards Ceremony which is being held on Monday 12 May 2014 at Cheltenham Racecourse, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

The VisitEngland Awards attracted 368 applications for the 2014 Awards – an increase of 15% on 2013.

The Pandora will have to wait until the Awards Ceremony to find out which award they will receive. All finalists are guaranteed to receive either a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award.

James Berresford, Chief Executive of VisitEngland said “I would like to congratulate all those nominated as finalists for this year’s VisitEngland Awards for Excellence. We receive hundreds of applications each year of an extremely high standard, so it is a tremendous achievement for The Pandora to become a finalist and to represent the top five in their category in England. I wish all the finalists the very best of luck for the Awards Ceremony in May.”

Since being completely gutted by a fire in 2011 and reopening in 2012, the Pandora Inn, which is managed by Catherine and Lester Croft, has cemented its position as one of the best pubs in the region.

Head chef Tom Milby has worked hard to gain the pub a reputation as one of the best places to eat out in Cornwall, and in January the pub scooped title of South West Tourism Pub of the Year, as well as being named Cornwall Life’s gastropub of the year in December 2013.

The Tourism Pub of the Year category at the VisitEngland Awards is being sponsored by the British Beer & Pub Association.

“The British Beer & Pub Association is delighted to sponsor the Tourism Pub of the Year award for the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence this year. May we pass on our congratulations the Pandora Inn on becoming a finalist. We wish them every success at the Awards Ceremony on 12 May 2014.”

John Milan & Steve Bellman, landlords of the Pandora Inn said “We are absolutely thrilled that the Pandora is being recognised at a national level for its excellent food, welcoming atmosphere and the contribution it makes to the tourism industry in Cornwall. Catherine, Lester, Tom and all the team have done a fantastic job running the pub and putting so much effort into making it a success, and we all have our fingers crossed for the awards ceremony in May.”
