Darcey Bussell CBE delighted pupils at a Chester arts school when she visited to take a ballet class.

Staff and students at The Hammond School were delighted to welcome the ballerina and Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell CBE when she visited to take a workshop.

Darcey, a former principal of The Royal Ballet and one of the most famous British dancers of her generation, spent the day with students of all ages, coaching ballet classes and leading an energetic exercise session in The Hammond Theatre, before taking part in a fascinating question and answer session.

Having dazzled all she met, the dancer then left the school to travel to Blackpool for the Strictly Come Dancing special at the Tower Ballroom.

The Hammond is one of the leading specialist performing arts schools in the North West. It is recognised and funded as a centre of excellence by the Department for Education.
