A Lancashire poem by Rtn Ken Murray PP

It all started just outside Wigan on a hilltop with a Standish bandwhere I massed my army of pie mento defend our name and landFor we were threatened with starvation if we lost our pies and sowe stood tall, all ten of us, to the shouts of, Hey up, lets goThe battle lasted ten minutes forwe were tired and forlornIt looks like we have lost our piesThey have definatly gornSt George, where were you whenwe needed you the most ?Now that all our pies are gonewe’ll end up eating TOASTTake heed, we will be back to fight once more, was the cry,for you cann’t deny a Wiganer, his right to a good meat pie
