A selection of diverse walks that you can enjoy when visiting the Isle of Wight

1) Carisbrooke Castle

Not only is Carisbrooke Castle worth a visit in its own right, but it also makes an ideal starting point for some fine walking over the nearby downland. Follow a stretch of the Tennyson Trail on the way out and return home via the Shepherds Trail.

2) Godshill

5) Niton

Head south to the southern tip of the Isle of Wight to discover the delights of Niton, taking in the landmarks of St Catherine's Lighthouse and the Hoy monument.

6) Western Yar estuary

An ideal day trip from the mainland. Take the ferry from Lymington Pier to Yarmouth, where you begin a walk beside the Western Yar estuary from one side of the Isle of Wight to the other.

7) Newtown Nature Reserve

Head for the National Trust owned Newtown Nature Reserve on the island's northwest coast for a walk with views of the estuary and opportunities for bird watching and then through meadows and woodland.
