Join Cornwall Wildlife Trust, your leading local wildlife charity to celebrate their new nature reserve on Saturday 1 March
Meet at 10.00am at Woon Gumpus Car Park SW 394 334, off the North Road (B3318) opposite the turn to Trewellard.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be one of the first to walk around Bostraze Nature Reserve which was recently purchased thanks to public donations and support from the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Trust’s Wild Penwith Project Manager, Liz Cox will be on hand to talk about the wildlife that lives in this spectacular wetland, including the fascinating insect-eating plants, round-leaved sundew and pale butterwort, and delicate cotton-grass whose downy heads bob in the wind. Bostraze Nature Reserve is also home to numerous bird and insect species such as barn owls, the secretive snipe and the nationally scarce and very beautiful, small red damselfly, one of the UK’s smallest damselflies. The walk will also include a visit to the atmospheric and historic ruins of Bog Inn on neighbouring land.
The walk will take about two and a half hours over very wet and uneven ground so please wear wellies and suitable outdoor clothings.
It is a free event but booking is essential, tea & coffee will be provided. Sorry no dogs.
