The picturesque Wirral village of Thornton Hough was the setting for a vintage car rally which drew hundreds of visitors to the spectacle.

Beautiful classic English family saloons from the 1920s and 30s were parked in the village alongside eye-catching American motors from the 1950s and 60s, all drawing admiring glances from the onlookers.

Many car owners - from Wirral Vintage Car Club - dressed in stylish clothes to reflect the era of their car’s heyday. They began their outing from New Brighton in the morning and arrived in the village early afternoon.

The organisers, Thornton Hough Community Trust, have in recent years raised over £89,000 for projects within the community, including the children’s playground. Thornton Hough was the first village green in England to be awarded the Green Flag award in 2004. They have been awarded the accolade every year since and were delighted to be presented with it once again this year.
