Anne Tighe, an inspirational community hero, was crowned Rossendale Woman of the Year 2015 at the prestigious awards ceremony at the Red Hall Hotel, Bury. Attended by 80 ladies, the event celebrated the achievements of Rossendale’s most outstanding women and raised £3,880 for Rossendale Hospice. Since retiring from the NHS, Anne has been involved in a host of voluntary organisations.
Special events chairwoman Belinda Evans said: ‘All the finalists were very worthy nominees. We were delighted by the nominations received which highlighted the work that women all over Rossendale contribute. Congratulations to Anne, the award is a thank you on behalf of the community for the volunteer work that she does to help others.’
