The fantastic sum of £51,000 was raised, equivalent to 2,500 hours of nursing by the dedicated Marie Curie team.
With a strong dose of competitive spirit to the fore, and sustained by an excellent meal from Red Olive Catering, Derbyshire’s business community rose impressively to the challenge of this year’s Brain Game, which again had Bowmer and Kirkland as its main sponsors.
The fantastic sum of £51,000 was raised, equivalent to 2,500 hours of nursing by the dedicated Marie Curie team. The result was close-run and for the first time saw representatives from two teams – Bowmer and Kirkland and Starter for Ten – competing in a tie-break for the champion’s title. Bowmer and Kirkland proved the eventual winners. NatWest and Geldards also tied for the next place.
The quiz was hosted by Andrew James, and Clinical Nurse Manager Coreen Astle reminded quizzers how much the money raised means to those suffering from a life limiting illness who choose to die at home. Grand raffle and auction prizes had been thoughtfully donated and Stephen Salloway orchestrated the auction which by itself raised nearly £14,000. It was another excellent evening.
