RHS Ambassador and Vice-President Alan Titchmarsh put the final touches to a giant floral cake to mark the opening of the RHS Garden Harlow Carr Flower Show.

The Show was a celebration of 70 years of the Yorkshire garden and Alan's 70th birthday in May this year.

The gardening legend gave a fascinating talk about his life in horticulture and his memories of Harlow Carr.

Alan said: 'I'm thrilled to share a birthday with one of the country's finest gardens!'

Visitors enjoyed more than 50 specialist nurseries and garden trade stands during the three-day show which attracted crowds of 13,700.
