Although the days are getting chillier and large gatherings have been put on hold, that doesn’t mean we can’t still spend time with our nearest and dearest outdoors

Whether you’re looking to entertain the kids over October half term or host a Halloween party with a difference, Jay Earles from The Canvas Co shares three ideas for throwing the ultimate garden event this autumn.

Set up an outdoor cinema

No party is complete without entertainment, and who says you can’t create your very own outdoor cinema while sheltering from the unpredictable British weather?

“Setting up a projector inside a bell tent or marquee is a fun way to watch movies while also being protected from the cold,” says Jay.

Whether you’re catching the latest Netflix release or streaming a live football match, all you have to provide is a laptop, tablet, smartphone or DVD player – then grab some popcorn, sit back and relax.

“There’s also the option to use projectors for gaming if you plug in your console, or if you want to create more of a festival atmosphere you can stream live music sets,” adds Jay.

“We provide black-out marquees or bell tents for our garden cinema package, giving you the option to binge watch films all day and night. We also offer seating options, projectors, projector screens, all the electrical cables to run from your house, as well as oil filled radiators to keep you warm.”

Pitch up and party

Bell tent parties are this year’s hottest garden trend, with everything from kids’ birthdays to baby showers filling our social media feeds. A world away from your typical camping set-up, these luxurious canvas tents come with furniture, fairy lights, rugs and cushions, providing a cosy retreat to enjoy quality time with family and friends – all from the comfort (and convenience) of your own garden.

“Bell tents offer something a little bit different to your usual event space and they can make your party truly memorable,” says Jay.

“We have a range of party spaces with Halloween and Christmas decoration themes available.”

Sleep under the stars

There’s something quite exciting about sleeping outdoors, even if you are just a few steps away from your backdoor. If you’re hosting a party but don’t have anywhere for your guests to stay, or if you want to throw your kids a special sleepover, Jay suggests setting up your own outdoor bedrooms – glamping style.

“We can supply air beds with bedding with our bell tent packages, or you can upgrade to real beds with memory foam mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets for something more luxurious. Radiators come with all tents and marquees for the colder months.”
