There is plenty of fun in Filey this year

Filey Folk Festival, April 28th-30th

The folk festival has quickly become one of the mainstays of the North Yorkshire seaside town’s musical year, bringing a broad range of folk, blues, country and acoustic performers and bands to a host of venues. There will be more than 100 acts this year with low prices across the board, from free (you don’t get much cheaper than that) to £10. As an extra treat, organisers have added an extra ‘survivors’ day’ for 2017, with a special finale concert in the Evron Centre on Bank Holiday Monday.

Seaside Steampunk Spectacular, May 19th-21st

This is a new event for 2017 but, with a host of entertainers and traders already signed up, it looks set to be a bustling addition to the ever-growing calendar of activities being created to make the season longer. If the idea of ‘steampunk’ leaves you scratching your head, think sci-fi, steam power and tonnes of fun.

Filey Food Festival, June 10th, August 12th and October 8th

We don’t really need to explain this one, do we? Mouthwatering hog roasts, sensational chefs, perfect pies, more cake than is strictly necessary – you get the picture. The town will be fit to burst with all things foodie and, given half a chance, so will you.

Festival of Filey: The Return of the Dragon, July 29th-30th

You might remember this event as Filey Edwardian Festival, but it’s now bigger, better and more Filey-er than ever before, using a running theme of ‘the Dragon’ (otherwise known as the Brigg) to tie a host of fun activities together. There will be stalls and entertainment in the Country Park, performances and displays at the Evron Centre, a carnival night at the Three Tuns and a beach bonanza.

Filey Christmas Shopping Weekend, December 9th-10th

Another new(ish) event for the town, the festive shopping weekend was launched last year but will include more shops and street entertainers this time around. Filey’s season tends to be shorter than the bigger boys (Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby) so this is the perfect opportunity to experience its delights in winter (don’t forget your bobble hat… and your purse).
