September 13th Hardraw Brass Band Festival The second oldest brass competition in the world, first held in 1882. Bands play in the grounds of the Green Dragon pub at Hardraw, near Hawes, below the 100ft waterfall of Hardraw Force. www.yhbba.org.uk
September 21st Nidderdale Show The last of the major events brings down the curtain on the agricultural show season for another year, regularly attracting 17,000 people with all the usual classes and competitions plus a funfair and cricket match. www.nidderdaleshow.co.uk
