Northern Cleft Foundation Magical Midsummer Ball

A Magical Midsummer Ball was held at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, raising £25,000 for the Northern Cleft Foundation. The charity, founded in Blackburn, supports a group of doctors and nurses drawn from across the UK who volunteer to provide free corrective cleft surgery to disadvantaged children in India. The ball was attended by 250 people, who enjoyed a cocktail reception and four course meal. Entertainment was provided by a live band, Entourage, and Darren Brand, an illusionist.

Dr Sheila Bailey, who organised the event, said: ‘The money raised will help provide vital equipment to be used during the next outreach in January, when the Northern Cleft Foundation team will once again be travelling to India to provide free corrective cleft surgery to extremely disadvantaged children.’
