Registration for the event on Tuesday 10th June is now open at www.roc5K.eventbrite.co.uk. It will start and finish at Truro’s Lemon Quay and will take you past the city’s beautiful riverside and around Boscawen Park.

The ROC 5K was officially launched on Thursday evening (30 January), where businesspeople, sponsors and local dignitories gathered at the One Eyed Cat in Truro to hear more about the event and the charity behind it.

The fun run is in aid of ROC (Robert Owen Communities) a charity that supports people with learning disabilities. All money raised will support the development of ROC Welcome Truro, a social club, and its 40 acre Boscawen Farm, near Blackwater, Truro.

Business sponsors are sought. Already on board are Francis Clark Accountants, the Cornish Mutual, Truro and Penwith College, MPAD and Morlaix Chartered Financial Planners.

The event is also supported Truro Running Club, Totally Truro Business Improvement District, Truro City Council, Cornwall Sports Partnership and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

Calvin Lovelock, ROC’s Fundraiser, said; “My thanks go to all our event partners who have enabled us to launch ROC 5K. We are planning for at least 400 people to take their places on the starting line and have a lot of fun while raising funds for this brilliant charity.”

Robert Cowie, partner with event sponsor Francis Clark said; “We are delighted to support ROC in this bold new initiative. The ROC 5K will be really positive for Cornwall and especially for the business sponsors and runners – teams and individuals - which get involved.”

ROC supports more than 500 people with learning disabilities across Devon and Cornwall.

Early bird tickets are now available for the ROC 5K: Tuesday 10th June at 6pm at www.roc5K.eventbrite.co.uk. A technical running shirt and post event refreshments are included. Minimum age is 15.
