The great and good of Cheshire came together at furniture and home store Arighi Bianchi to hear all about The Christie’s plans to build a new cancer treatment centre in Macclesfield.

Guests heard first-hand from patients sharing their own stories as well as the latest on the charity's work, including its adventurous fundraising appeal to raise £23 million to make the new centre a reality.

With plans to open its doors in 2021, Christie experts told how the new centre will give more than 1,500 patients each year the highest standards of Christie cancer care, much closer to home.

It will bring together essential cancer services into one purpose-built unit, delivering radiotherapy, chemotherapy, clinical trials, holistic support such as complementary therapies, counselling and information services, outpatient care and support services. Kind-hearted local supporters have already helped to raise more than £3 million towards the target.
