Many of the big names who played in Aston Villa’s European Cup winning squad from the 1981/ 1982 season will be at Stratford Town FC to offer their support to help raise funds for Forces Support. They will take part in a new football tournament taking place at the DCS Stadium on Sunday May 18 2014.

Famous names such as Gary Shaw and Ken McNaught will be taking part as the Villa Lions Legends showcase team play against an opposition to be unveiled shortly. The full Legends side will be announced nearer the day.

The all-day Football Festival is being organised by E-Lites electronic cigarettes to help raise funds for Forces Support, a Worcestershire based charity which offers support to families of personnel killed in action while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The All-Stars match will be supported in the second half by members of local supporters clubs and local business representatives who will be invited to take to the field during the match with their donation fee going straight to the charity.

Organisers are inviting the public and military personnel to attend the event which will include stalls and displays promoting the excellent work of our armed services.

Ken McNaught, Lions Legends, said: “As former players we are acutely aware that through playing matches like this, we are able to give back to the local community. The lads regularly play to raise thousands of pounds for very good local causes. We are looking forward to this match and raising money for Forces Support.”

Trevor Field, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, E-Lites, said: “I would like to thank Ken and everyone connected with the Villa European Cup winning team for offering a side to play in what promises to be a very exciting event. E-Lites are proud to support the Forces Support charity by arranging this festival.”
