A selection of summer events at National Trust Nymans

Sat 14 Jun – Sun 31 Aug - Exhibition – The Great War – Stories of a German family in England

Open daily 10am – 4:30pm (last admission 30 minutes before close)

This exhibition will tell the story of the people of Nymans and how the War affected them, from Ludwig Messel who was deeply saddened by the conflict between the two nations he loved to the soldiers in the Buffs, trained by Ludwig’s son Leonard. Leonard was unable to join the soldiers on the front line because of his German ancestry but received letters from those who saw combat, whilst his father Ludwig is said to have died broken hearted by the conflict.
