A little Las Vegas glitz was brought to Manchester at the annual Beechwood Cancer Care Centre ladies’ lunch and fashion show.
Held at the Palace Hotel, 320 guests attended the ‘Viva Las Vegas’ themed event which raised over £35,000. Hosted by Key 103 DJ Mike Toolan, entertainment was provided by Russell Shaun and Cirque, who are based in the Northern Quarter, and actor Lee Boardman explained why Beechwood was so important to his family. The fashion show by Fizz Fashion and Selfridges Manchester saw everyone on their feet when survivor models took to the catwalk, escorted by volunteers from Paramount Fitness of Urmston.
Angela Gray, fundraising manager for the Stockport-based support centre, said: ‘It was a fantastic day and the you could feel the emotion in the room when our models took to the catwalk - it makes people realise it can happen to any of us.’
Beechwood’s next event is the Butterfly Ball on Saturday June 25 at The Palace Hotel. Tables are £500 with all monies going to support those with cancer or life limiting illness.
