Host of celebrities from the showbusiness world attended the event

A fun-packed Variety event to provide a local child with a wheelchair costing £8,000 was staged at the Clifton Arms Hotel in Lytham.

The day – which raised more than £9,200 – was a celebration of the comedian Bobby Ball, who now lives in the town.

Friends from showbusines, including Sherrie Hewson, Stan Boardman, Sue Vincent, Stu Francis, Su Pollard and Johnnie Casson, paid tribute to Bobby.

Bobby also received a lifetime appreciation award from Variety for outstanding support during his career.
