A very glitzy and glamorous black tie ball rounded off the Boodles Classique 2013, a week of tennis and hospitality at Mere Golf Resort and Spa involving star players like Goran Ivanisevic, Richard Krajicek, Mark Philippoussis, Peter McNamara, Mikael Pernfors and Anders Jarryd.

Paralympic players Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson were involved too and opened the tournament. It is the first time the event has been held at The Mere following its £15m refurbishment 12 months ago. The Mere’s setting, combined with superb facilities, made it an ideal choice for this prestigious event.

The tournament opened with a wheelchair tennis exhibition match featuring the UK’s number two and number three paralympic tennis players, Marc McCarroll and David Phillipson, who were against Richard Krajicek and Mark Philippoussis who were also playing in wheelchairs.

Paralympic gold medallist, Lee Pearson CBE also attended. He represents Enable Sport, this year’s official charity which works to give disabled athletes a chance to compete by providing support and equipment. £10,000 was raised for Enable Sport.
