Vanessa Austin Locke, editor of the Brighton Fashion Week blog and social media, announces The Couture Show's headliner and the opening of the Face of Brighton 2012 competition

We're nearly there. My head’s spinning. Model castings are in full swing, production are doing all the things that production do and I know nothing about, our designers are busy in their studios putting their collections together and I get to watch it all unfold and then pick the best to share with you. Lucky girl. We’ve confirmed and announced our headliner for The Couture Show this year, Edward Finney. Finney is a Central St Martins graduate who honed his skills on Savile Row and has worked as Assistant Designer to the late, lamented Alexander McQueen and, for the past four years, to John Galliano. He was selected as semi-finalist in last year’s Fashion Fringe Competition, has been featured in Vogue and Elle and has dressed the likes of Lily Cole.Finney is inspired by legendary women and his A/W 2011 collection tells the tale of a hounded princess driven to her death. Inspiration is taken from the tragic story of Diana, Princess of Wales, and the film Black Swan and the collection is sculpted from mohair, cashmere and Shetland tweeds. Go to the Brighton Fashion Week blog to read a full interview with Edward Finney by Laura Grant-Evans.Our Face of Brighton 2011 is Sofee Nadine whose pixie features come with bags of attitude, which we feel reflects Brighton’s alternative, rebellious nature. But the search is now on for the Face of Brighton 2012, so get in touch with models@brightonfashionweek.com with a natural head and full-length shot and your vital statistics, to be in with a chance of winning. Our ticket store is now open at www.brightonfashionweek.com and through The Fringe and www.brightonfestivalfringe.org.uk. They’re selling like hotcakes so do go and get yours before they’re all gone. Keep your eyes peeled for my team of bloggers throughout fashion week (31st May-5th June) who’ll be snapping the best dressed and blogging about it all the way through the shows, parties and pop-up events. I look forward to seeing you all there.Credits for Face of Brighton image:Designer - Alexei IzmaylovCreative Director - Anne PowerMake up by Nicola SmithHair by Hugo Ratzel at HeadmastersPhotography by Bourne www.imbourne.com and www.facebook.com/imbourne
