Buckham Fair announced that the results of 2018’s fundraising efforts have broken the record for the highest funds raised since the fair began, totalling £111,000

Of 2018’s success, Martin Clunes said, “Since starting this event, our intentions have always been to give back to our community, through Buckham Fair, and over the past 10 years, we have, together with the unending support of local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, traders and visitors, been able to do just that. We are so incredibly proud that in our 10th year of Buckham Fair, we have, once again, broken our own record by raising such an incredible amount for the Dorset County Hospital Charity Appeal in aid of the new cancer centre being built in Dorchester. We are also especially thankful to the continued support from the Barclays volunteer team that contributed to this day being such a success.”

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year, Buckham Fair provided visitors with an even more impressive arrangement of displays, trade stands, food stands events to become involved in like an attempt at a Guinness World Record, Morris Dancing and more, and was fortunate to have the impressive Devil’s Horsemen provide an exhilarating display of horsemanship. Neil Morrissey returned this year to judge the Dog Even More like Neil Morrissey class, as well as a display by the Stunt Dogs of Film and TV.

This year’s nominated charity to benefit from Buckham Fair’s fundraising effort is the Dorset County Hospital Charity Appeal. Mark Addison, Chair of Dorset County Hospital Foundation Trust said: “We are very grateful to everyone involved with the Buckham Fair for this tremendous boost to the Cancer Appeal. It was a fantastic day and the size of this donation reflects the many months of hard work, commitment and careful planning that an event of this scale requires. The personal effort that the Buckham Fair team has put in is really appreciated by all of us at Dorset County Hospital. The new centre will mark a huge step forward by bringing radiotherapy and new outpatient facilities much closer to the people of West Dorset.”

Buckham Fair will be taking a break in 2019 following 10 years of event success.
