On Wednesday, November 14, Burford School’s U15 rugby squad met Chipping Norton School in the final of the District Cup, held at Witney RFC.

On a bright afternoon and under not ideal pitch conditions, Burford opened the scoring when skipper Oli Toner went over the line for a try (unconverted). Chipping Norton replied with a try (unconverted) to even the score. Tom Harvey for Burford made an excellent run up the wing to put the ball under the posts for the second try which was converted by Reiss Howard. Chipping Norton again replied with an unconverted try to leave the score 12–10 at half time.

The second half of the match saw Burford dominate the game with further tries from Oli Toner (converted by Howard), Tom Renwick (converted by Howard), Matthew Cradock (unconverted) and Reiss Howard (unconverted). Chipping Norton were unable to reply leaving the final score at 36–10.

Burford U14’s met Marlborough School in their final held on the same day at the same venue. The teams were very evenly matched with alternate teams scoring throughout the match. The final score was 21–19 to Marlborough.

All the players were awarded a medal for taking part in the competition, the U15 winners took home the District Cup and the U14 winners took home the District Shield.
