Golfers clubbed together to take part in a charity event at Carden Park, near Chester.

The event, hosted by Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), saw ten teams from across Cheshire and Shropshire take part in a tournament followed by a dinner in the golf house. Former Miss Great Britain, Suzannah Younger Jenkins, led an auction that raised over £2,500. Prizes included signed Liverpool FC memorabilia and a print of European golf winners, signed by no less than Tony Jacklin CBE.

Sue and Chris Dewhirst set up their CRY for Matthew Appeal after their son, Matthew, passed away tragically at the age of 17 from an undiagnosed heart condition. So far their appeal has raised over £30,000 to fund a screening programme for young people in the two counties.

Undiagnosed heart defects kill 12 young people every week in the UK.
