CHARITY DINNER CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ADVENTURER ROB GAUNTLETT
On Saturday 28th March 2009, South Lodge Hotel in Horsham, West Sussex is hosting a charity dinner in aid of local charity 'CHASE' (Registered Charity: 1042495) celebrating the life of locally born adventurer Rob Gauntlett who died tragically in January whilst climbing in the French Alps. Rob's childhood friend and climbing partner James Hooper joins the evening.
The evening will begin with a champagne reception and a chance to meet the fellow guests before being seated for a three-course dinner. Between courses, Rob's school friend and partner, James Hooper will speak about he and Rob becoming National Geographic's 'Adventurers of the Year 2008' and about their Everest and Pole to Pole expeditions.
South Lodge General Manager, Rupert Spurgeon said, "We were shocked and saddened by the news of Rob's death and our thoughts go out to his family and friends. We hope this evening can mark his achievements in the best way possible by raising funds for our chosen charity for 2009 and one that Rob was associated with. Our thanks go to James for helping to create a fitting evening in the name of Rob which we hope will be both immensely enjoyable and rewarding."
Gauntlett and Hooper rose to fame in early 2006 when at the tender age of 19 they became the youngest Britain's to conquer Mount Everest. In 2008 they won the title 'Adventurers of the Year' on completion of their Pole to Pole trek.
CHASE is a national charity that provides hospice care and support to families with children who are not expected to live past there 19th birthday. Currently CHASE supports 283 families living in West Sussex, Surrey and South West London, 36 of whom live in the Horsham and Crawley area.
South Lodge is donating �15 of the cost per person added to which, will be the proceeds of the raffle due to take place on the night ensuring a handsome total for CHASE.
