Charity baker Ruth Winters completed her twelve hour bake off earlier this month, raising over £2,000 for two charities
Ruth’s target was to bake 3,500 cupcakes in twelve hours, however she exceeded this amount by 102 - baking 3,602 in total. She even stayed on to bake a further 200 cakes for the following day.
The bake off was hosted by The Tile Barn and Redbrook Kitchens to raise money for the charities Sands and Winchcombe Day Centre where Ruth’s grandmother attended for many years before she died last year aged 109.
Sands is a stillbirth and neonatal death charity supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. This is a cause close to Ruth’s heart; after her granddaughter was born prematurely and died soon after, the level of support her daughter-in-law received was second to none, and attending groups with families who have been through the same situations was hugely therapeutic.
