Around 200 people attended a black tie ball and auction at Shrigley Hall Hotel at Pott Shrigley, near Macclesfield, in aid of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

The organiser, Zoe Hanson, was inspired to stage the event following the death of her mother.

She explained: ‘My mum died of this cancer in 2012 and the survival rate for pancreatic cancer has remained at a staggeringly low 3% in the last 40 years. Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer yet it only gains 1% of the cancer funding for research. This needs addressing. The money raised will help towards vital research.’
