Chester Business Club’s annual summer ball at the city’s racecourse will benefit two local charities.

Claire House children’s hospice on the Wirral and The Hospice of the Good Shepherd at Backford, Chester, will be the beneficiaries.

Jill Davies, co-chairman of the ball said: ‘We were thrilled to raise over £16,000. We are still counting and hoping to hit £18,000 but the final amount is not definite at the moment. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the charity ball once again.’

Chester Business Club has raised well over £100,000 in recent years with its various events for local causes.

Cheshire Life donated an unusual ‘gift’ to Claire House: an auction prize of a promise to photograph the highest bidder’s social occasion and then feature it in the magazine. Watch this space!
