A fun fundraising event was held at the Michael Caines restaurant at Chester’s Abode Hotel. The aim was to raise cash for the Chester team taking part in the Boom Banger Rally where teams drive decorated old cars across Europe. The Chester team, who are raising money towards the building of a new neo-natal unit at Chester Countess Hospital through the Babygrow Appeal, were led by Julie Swinnerton from Benison Nursery, Tim Kenney from Kenneymoore Property and Christophe Hesbert from Abode. Attendees enjoyed a three-course lunch and had the opportunity to see the colourful decorated cars before they set off on their 3,000 mile journey.

The Chester teams drove from Reims, France to Marrakech, Morocco and won the rally! The lunch raised £5,253 and the whole event in total raised just over £13,500.

Tim Kenney said:‘We entered this rally to raise much-needed cash for a great cause and for a bit of fun. We achieved both of those things – but be in no doubt it was challenging, long drive!’
