This morning, at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Zara Phillips gave birth to a baby girl.

Husband, former England rugby star Mike Tindall, was present at the birth, and the new family of three headed back home to the Gatcombe Park estate.

The baby, weighing a healthy 7lbs 12oz, is the Queen’s fourth great grandchild and is 16th in line to the throne. The Queen’s Press Secretary said, “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

In somewhat more relaxed manner, the ecstatic father Tweeted: “Thanks so much for all your kind messages. Definitely the best day of my life today, so happy! The girls are both doing great!” and “Big thanks to all involved at Gloucester Royal, they were fantastic! #newglawsfamilymember”

All at Cotswold Life would like to wish the family much happiness for the future.
