Scarecrows took over the streets of Darcy Lever, Bolton, during the village’s annual festival.

Organised by St Stephen and All Martyrs’ CE Primary School, Friends of St Stephen’s and the church, the festival saw pupils and residents get involved in creating an army of scarecrows. Locals let their imaginations run wild and even her The Queen was immortalised in scarecrow form. The festival also ran in conjunction with the traditional village fair.

Michael Cummins, head teacher at the school, said: ‘It was a wonderful day and the weather really helped. All the groups involved work hard to put together the day, which is one of the biggest in the school’s calendar. We had more entries this year, which is a great response from the local community.’
