The fourteenth charity ball organised by actress Denise Welch and Entertainment Today was held in a glitzy marquee at Manchester United’s ground with a ‘Dancing in the Street’ theme.

The venue had its own street with lamp posts, traffic lights and stop and go signs. It was attended by 550 guests. Auctions and raffles, which included prizes such as a spa break and Paccioni Centum watch, raised £53,000 for the GEM appeal, a charity supporting children and young people diagnosed with rare genetic disorders.

Julie Arnold, managing director of Entertainment Today, was thrilled by the amount raised. She said: ‘We can’t believe that this year was the 14th year of us organising Denise’s ball. I can’t wait for the 15th next year as we are going to do something really special!’
