The Celestial Ball paid tribute to the beautiful constellation drawings of John Flamsteed in Derby Museums’ collections

The recent Celestial Ball at Derby Museums raised in excess of £11,000 towards the Museums’ £1million Endowment Campaign, which was then doubled by the Heritage Lottery Fund to an amazing £23,000.

Billed as a night of sparkle and stars, the Celestial Ball paid tribute to the beautiful constellation drawings of John Flamsteed in Derby Museums’ collections. The black-tie event sold out weeks in advance and welcomed 167 guests to the Museums’ newly opened space on The Wardwick. Over the next three years Derby Museums is continuing to raise £1 million which will be matched by the Heritage Lottery Fund to create an Endowment Fund to be invested to support its long term future. u
