Half term is nearly here again and before the children drive you crazy, Devon’s Top Attractions are here to help with loads of ideas to keep everyone happy and occupied with a fabulous week of family fun
Why not pay a visit this half term to Exeter Cathedral and explore the Cathedral as a family with their child-friendly tours? Listen to the stories, amazing facts and spooky tales. Or take part in their Tudor Half Term Crafts at the Cathedral on the 18th February. Make a Tudor Rose collage, a gruesome be-headable puppet or become a Tudor character. Try on the costumes and have a go a writing with a quill!
There will be new animals arriving at Wildwood Escot. Arriving first will be the endangered Scottish Wildcats, now only found in Scotland. Other new animals arriving this year will include Lynx, Pine Martens and Wolves.
There’s a FUN-tastic week on offer at the Big Sheep with their Lambing Live! Plus shows, rides, animals and lots of the usual Big Sheep style indoor play. There’s also lots of half term all-weather fun out at Pecorama’s Play Station. Watch the children race down the astra and spiral slides, ride the zip wire and scramble through the nets and rollers.
The original TV legend and everyone’s favourite ‘Muffin the Mule’ arrives at the Pennywell Farm as part of his 70th anniversary celebrations. Meet Muffin on the 13th, 14th and 17th February 2016. There’s also a VIP half term on offer at Pennywell: visitors can become a Pennywell VIP and get a February Half Term wristband. This wristband allows multiple visits throughout the week.
There’s a fabulous February Giveaway going on at Devon’s Crealy where visitors can WIN fantastic prizes. Each day a lucky family will be drawn at random from the guest list, so book online now and enjoy a Crealy day out.
For a day full of fresh air and exercise then head over to Becky Falls and meet the meerkats. Enjoy a whole day out with plenty to keep the children busy and take the dog along too. Children can borrow an explorer backpack, complete with binoculars and bug viewers to accompany the letterboxing trail.
Why not pay Castle Drogo a visit this half term and follow the trail around the garden and grounds? Let your children discover more about wildlife and all that’s around them and then warm up in the Castle’s café for a bite to eat. You could visit another of Devon’s National Trust properties, Knightshayes, near Tiverton and explore the brand new passport garden trail and become a Victorian plant collector.
World of Country Life at Exmouth will reopen its doors after the winter break with a week full of fun and games. They will be offering all the usual favourite activities plus their biggest ever entertainment programme planned for 2016.
