The famous Flying Scotsman pulled into the East Lancashire Railway’s Bolton Street Station in Bury to kick start a night of fine dining and first class service. The sold out ‘Dining with Distinction’ experience gave 138 diners the chance to relive the prestige of luxury train travel from bygone years within the beautiful surroundings of the Scotsman’s Orient Express style carriages.

The gastronomic 16 mile journey through the Irwell Valley featured a red carpet welcome, sparkling wine reception and musical accompaniment from the Jamie Brownfield Quartet. A four course meal included delicious dishes such as baked lobster pots and a profiterole tower on a sweet pastry bed.
