Dormy House Hotel has appointed award-winning garden designer and TV presenter Chris Beardshaw to create its new gardens.
The landscape architect and horticulturist is reshaping the gardens at the luxury hotel near Broadway as part of its ongoing £10m refurbishment.
Hotel general manager David Field says, “We’re delighted Chris is designing the new gardens at Dormy House. His plans are inspired by the history of local Cotswold gardens and the aim is to emphasise the stunning views from the hotel.
“We are located in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and creating gardens that enhance this natural beauty will help our guests enjoy a truly inspirational visit.”
Chris Beardshaw is best known for his 15-year broadcasting career, which includes BBC2 hit television series Hidden Gardens and the hugely popular The Flying Gardener. He also features on Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time and the BBC series Beechgrove Garden which shows every Sunday morning on BBC2.
Chris says, “It is wonderful to be involved in a local project of such prestigious nature and I greatly look forward to seeing the hotel reopen this summer. The landscape work sees the implementation of structure and provides a framework which will allow the gardens to develop and mature over time.”
The hotel reopens to guests on Friday, August 2 and will remain open while work continues on the House Spa, which is due to launch in early 2014.
