Some 45 members and guests attended the East Cheshire ABF Soldiers’ Charity 25th annual chairman’s dinner.

Major General Anthony Leask CB CBE was the guest speaker at the occasion held at the Old Boys’ Park Green Club in Macclesfield. Major Leask’s subject was the First World War and its 100th anniversary this year.

Proceeds from the event went to the ABF Soldiers, which was formed in 1944 and has recently experienced a 30% increase in the number of requests for assistance from those who have served in the forces.

The ABF supports serving and retired soldiers, their partners and their families. It helps with financial hardship, nursing fees and also helps many ex-service personnel to stay in their own homes.
