Local businessman and father-of-three set a target to raise £50,000.
Local businessman and father-of-three Mohsin Alli set himself a target of raising £50,000 for East Lancs Hospice and The Christie in Manchester after his wife of 28 years, Farida, passed away from stomach cancer in 2019. From diagnosis to death, it was three months.
Farida passed away in Ramadan, a blessed month for Muslims, and the support from the hospice in her last 17 days inspired Mohsin to give something back.
He’d never treked before, but started doing long walks and hosted a fundraising event at Stanley House, Blackburn, ‘Climb in Her Name’. More than 150 people attended from as far away as London. They were treated to a three-course meal and a guest talk from Professor Mansur, from The Christie. Mohsin hit his target on the night.
