A number of pupils from Rendcombe College will be pursuing their acting ambitions at the Edinburgh Festival in a new play
Faith, a new play based on real wartime events in a soon-to-be-evacuated village on Salisbury Plain, has been written and produced by NM Generation, a theatrical production company created a few years ago by students James Mudge (18) and Luke Nixon (17).
After producing a number of classic theatre pieces, this is NM Generation’s biggest undertaking so far. Faith is a fifty minute play that features an ensemble cast of eight Rendcomb pupils and will run this spring on stages in Rendcomb, Cirencester and Cheltenham, before making its debut in front of international audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (August 1-9).
Nixon and Mudge enter the Rendcomb College history books as the first students of the college to go to the Fringe Festival. The production is already tipped for success, having won a central (‘Venue 39’) home on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, and picking up support from Rob Grant (Writer and Co-Creator of Red Dwarf) who described Faith as a “A full commercial production, which shows great promise and a high level of professionalism.” and from Paul Milton, Cheltenham Everyman’s Creative Director, who describes the project as “a brave initiative, from exciting new writers”.
Headmaster Roland Martin commented: “Both James and Luke are incredibly talented young men and everyone at the College admires their determination and ambition to find success in a tough sector. Everyone at the College supports them in their efforts and is looking forward to the upcoming productions.”
Faith will debut at Rendcomb College March 25-27 before opening to the public on April 4 at Cirencester’s Sundial Theatre. More dates leading up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival are to be confirmed.
