One of Lancashire’s most successful multi-sports clubs has been celebrating its centenary in style.

Blackburn Northern was formed in 1913 and over the decades made a name for itself locally and nationally in tennis, squash and hockey. It is regarded as one of the leading tennis clubs in the region with modern facilities, including an air dome. As part of the centenary events, former Davis Cup finalist Mark Cox agreed to play an exhibition match at Blackburn and afterwards offered some impromptu coaching and advice.

A centenary cocktail party kicked off the celebrations earlier this year and this memorable 12 months will reach its climax on November 2 when a ball is staged at Eaves Hall, West Bradford, near Clitheroe.
