More than 100 friends of the Goosnargh and Whittingham Whitsuntide Festival gathered at Wyrebank, Garstang, to mark and celebrate the making of history by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who is now the nation’s longest reigning monarch.

The youngest attendee was current Festival Queen, Melissa Crawley, 12, and the oldest was the 92-year-old Joan Marsden, grandma of Festival Queens 2006 and 2008, Poppy and Daisy Haresnape.

In his welcome address, Chairman David Butters wished guests an enjoyable evening and commented on the close: ‘This venue isn’t going to be big enough for next year’s ball!’
