Greenbank Preparatory School parents danced the night away at the Deanwater Hotel, bringing the year to a glamorous end.

They had much to celebrate, as Greenbank has recently beaten more than 400 schools nationwide to scoop the Independent Schools’ Associations Parental Engagement Award for the quality of the parent-home relationship.

The event raised £3,400 which will help convert the school’s old cricket pavilion on Heathbank Road, Cheadle Hulme, into an eco-friendly outdoor classroom and summer sports pavilion.

Greenbank headmistress, Janet Lowe said: ‘We won the ISA’s National Eco Award in 2014 and for the last four years we have held the Foundation for Environmental Education Green Flag award, the highest available, for our commitment to a greener earth. This fund will help us impart those beliefs to the next generation both at work and play.’

Greenbank Parents’ Association Chair Saneta Johnson said: ‘Our children will be delighted with their new pavilion and in particular we would like to thank all the local traders who were so generous with their sponsorship.’
