Hanna Miraftab on romance and giving back

With her upcoming wedding and Valetnine’s Day around the corner, our columist is spreading the love.
Cheshire Romance
I think there are so many romantic places in Cheshire and beyond, we are very lucky! Martin and I like to go up to the Edge for a nice long walk (the views on a good day are phenomenal) and follow this with a cosy meal in The Wizard Inn sitting by a roaring fire.
This is our idea of romance, rather than big, grand gestures.
As we’re getting married this year, Valentine’s Day won’t be a big one for us. We don’t tend to give gifts for Valentine’s anyway, we just enjoy spending some time together away from our busy jobs.
However, if it is a special, romantic treat, we absolutely love Hotel Gotham in Manchester. It’s a completely enchanting venue and the perfect place to switch off and make time for each other.

Eight Months!
Wow, our wedding is coming round so quickly, I can’t believe it! There’s still a lot to plan, the finer details, but this month is going to be about some me-prep!
I’ve booked myself in to Martin’s clinic, Re-Enhance, to start work on my bridal pampering. First things first - laser hair removal for my legs. It’ll be interesting to visit the clinic as a patient, something I haven’t done before.
We’ve been having a lot of meetings with our wedding planner, Charlotte Elise Dodd, who has been an absolute godsend to us. She knows exactly what we want and totally understands my vision, I’m loving working with her.
Giving Back
I’m lucky enough to find myself in a position where I’m able to give back to my community and I try to help as much as I can.
I recently took a trip down memory lane and visited my old school, Bolton School, where I held a talk to a group of Year 11 girls talking about the world of work, how to prepare themselves for interviews and making their CV’s stand out.
I really hope the girls took something away from my visit and I wish them all the best of luck in their future careers.
My dental practice, Kiln Lane Dental, recently provided the gum shields for the Saints rugby team which I was also really pleased to be able to help with. The guys there now all have individually made-to-measure gum shields, a necessity to protect their teeth and gums, courtesy of Kiln Lane Dental!
Toothache
On February 9th it’s annual National Toothache Day, a problem many people will unfortunately encounter. Figures show that over half of all adults in the UK and a third of children fail to see a dentist and tooth decay is the number one reason why five to nine year olds are admitted to hospital. It’s vital that you make regular visits to your dentist for check-ups every six months to ensure optimum dental hygiene and health whilst trying to keep sugary food and drinks to a minimum. Hopefully none of you will be suffering with the dreaded pain on this Toothache Day!
