Harrogate’s first citizen, Coun Stuart Martin MBE, joined his guests for The Mayor’s Ball at Grantley Hall.

Proceeds from the event went towards this year’s Mayoral Charity – The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The YAA is an independent charity, surviving solely on donations since its founding 20 years ago. It requires £12,000 a day to maintain and fly its two aircraft when called upon.

The Mayor also made a small donation to TASC Madagascar, a charity he helped found, and therefore very personal to him.

He said: ‘The beneficiaries of this ball are two different but equally worthy organisations.

‘I would like to thank everyone who has got behind this year’s Mayor’s Ball, in particular Grantley Hall, our generous sponsors, and of course those who purchased tickets.’
