Following the success of Hereford Cathedral Christmas Fair in December, The Dean of Hereford presented a donation cheque for £900 this week to The Martha Trust, Hereford.

The money was raised at the event featuring over 30 local craftspeople selling homemade produce and seasonal gifts, with Martha Trust, Hereford as the designated charity for 2013.

The trust in Hereford was established in 1996 by Sarah and Richard Smith, as a registered charity, to provide lifelong and respite care for young people with profound intellectual and physical disabilities.

In 2012 the Trust opened its second specialised Nursing Home and Therapy Centre, Sophie House, in the Tupsley area of the City bringing their bed total to 28 with two full therapy centres.

On receiving the cheque, Founding Trustee Sarah Sharp-Smith said: “I am delighted to receive this very generous donation from the Cathedral on behalf of Martha Trust. We are so very grateful for the level of support we receive from the local people of Herefordshire who understand how important the care we deliver is to our residents and their families.”
