It would be no surprise to Somerset people that when children are asked what’s your favourite vehicle, they reply Tractors!

So for many, a special event being held on Monday 26th May at the East Somerset Railway starring local hero Tractor Ted, will be a must. Tractor Ted is the star of an enchanting series of stories that take children on a wonderful journey into the British countryside and life on a farm.

As well as being able to meet Tractor Ted himself, there will be a variety of farm animals to see. Children will be able to learn about caring for animals and about what they like to eat by helping bed up the animals with straw and water and feeding them too. There will be many other exciting things to do like play in the digger den, join in an “I Spy” game, have your face painted, a competition to enter, vintage tractors to see and lots of rides to enjoy. And for adults there will be the chance to drive a steam engine with “Driver for a Fiver” which will be running at the engine shed.

Tractor Ted Day at the Railway is on 26th May and opens at 10.00. Steam trains will be running from 11.00 until 16.00. For more information, log on to the ESR’s website www.eastsomersetrailway.com. The East Somerset Railway is at Cranmore, 3 miles east of Shepton Mallet on the A361, BA4 4QP.
