Garry Whitehouse invites guests to Churchdown Community Centre to help raise money for his son Jenson and others who suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
To help raise money for Jenson’s future, Garry has organised Jenson’s Christmas Cracker, an event to take place on Friday December 2 at Churchdown Community Centre at 6.30pm. Guests can enjoy an evening of delightful music performances from Churchdown Village Infant and Junior schools, The Churchdown Ukulele Band, Jess Burton, as well as The Rag’n’Bone Men.
After discovering his son Jenson has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy on his first birthday, Garry Whitehouse set up the charity Jenson’s Journey which has raised funds and gathered fantastic support into much needed research.
It’s now at the point where Garry and his family are looking at what Jenson needs for his future including his own bedroom, wet room and the various apparatus to help him move around the house.
The condition slowly through time will take away Jenson’s mobility, leaving him in a wheelchair. It will slowly start to waste away his muscles; it then starts to affect his eating ability, lungs and heart. The condition ends his life between the ages of 20 to 30 years old, sometimes earlier.
All money raised from the event will go towards Jenson’s future and ongoing research into the condition. Tickets cost £12 for adults, and £5 for children with families most welcome. Tickets can be purchased on the night or in advance from Garry on jensonsjourney@gmail.com or 07906205353.
