Why Kingsmead School in Hoylake has an exceptional academic record

Kingsmead School in Hoylake, Wirral was founded in 1904 as a prep school and from the start it was marked out for it’s unusually caring, family ethos and personalised approach to learning.
When the school expanded to educate children to 16 it rapidly became the highest achieving all-ability school in Wirral at GCSE level, largely thanks to the school’s unique style of education and caring atmosphere.
Now this remarkable school has a newly-opened Sixth Form and also offers boarding facilities. Both developments open up a welcome new option for Cheshire families looking for the best education for their children. The school offers full-boarding, weekly boarding and flexi-boarding for pupils from the age of nine (day pupils can start in Nursery). Wrap-around care, for day pupils living at a distance, is also available for all ages, 49 weeks a year.
Today Kingsmead School provides a bespoke education that is transformative for the child and life-changing for the family. The approach to enhanced learning has produced an exceptional academic record, with GCSE and 11+ pass rates of over 80%. Sixth Form provides 1:1 tuition at A Level and BTEC, a level of individual support rarely seen elsewhere.
All this in an enviable environment. Kingsmead is a wonderful place in which to study: over 20 acres of leafy grounds and playing fields, including an indoor heated swimming pool, excellent facilities for food and nutrition, drama and music, science and ICT and many peaceful study areas tucked away for pupils seeking quiet spaces in which to prepare during critical academic stages. The school’s extended day is punctuated with long morning and lunchtime breaks, filled with a wealth of sports and clubs, ensuring a healthy balance to every day.
Supporting the academic input is an enormous range of co-curricular opportunities which further expand horizons, build confidence and develop independence and leadership and regular whole-school assemblies and concerts bring the entire community together.
Kingsmead holds one Scholarship Day per year, in November; Scholarships in Music, Art and Sport are offered.
