The deadline looms for the national competition organised by Gloucester-based leading beauty membership body, BABTAC

The closing date looms for the BABTAC national contest to discover and reward industry innovation, in association with Olympia and Professional Beauty.

Entrants have only two days left to submit their entry into BABTAC’s, (The British Association of Beauty Therapists and Cosmetologists) national competition to reward innovation in the beauty industry; with an £8,000 prize for the lucky winner to put that idea into practice.

The closing date is Wednesday, July 31 2013 and entrants must submit an overview of their innovative concept in no more than 400 words, via marketing@babtac.com before this date; along with the completed application form found at www.babtac.com/innovation. From this 20 successful applicants will be selected and each will need to provide a two and a half minute video clip of their concept to the BABTAC panel. Full information on entering can be found at www.babtac.com/innovation.

Carolyne Cross, BABTAC & CIBTAC, Chair says, “We have been overwhelmed with the sheer number of quality concepts put forward and we are extremely proud of the talented individuals within the industry. To see so many people getting behind and backing this competition is great and we should be proud of what our industry has to offer. We’re also really excited to see what’s coming up in the next couple of years; there are some really great new products and services! Here at BABTAC we are eager to support the industry and where possible aid in growth and development; this competition has allowed us to provide a stepping stone which is one of our strong beliefs.”

BABTAC will be announcing the shortlist ahead of Olympia Beauty in September, where eight to 10 semi-finalists will be selected to perform a five minute live presentation on stage at the event. This will then be recorded, put online at www.babtac.com open for a public vote. By December 1 2013, a combination of four to five finalists selected from the panel of industry experts and the public vote will be notified; finalists will then need to present a persuasive ten-minute pitch live at Professional Beauty 2014 in London to the BABTAC panel of influential industry experts and peers in a format similar to the popular TV programme Dragon’s Den.
